Do the Papers Pay Enough Attention to the Electoral College in Their Articles About the Campaign?
Do the Papers Pay Enough Attention to the Electoral College in Their Articles About the Campaign?Ever wondered why the papers spend so much time and energy in asking the Electoral College electors to elect Donald Trump as president? Well, there are several reasons why they make a big fuss over it. These were discussed by Andrew P. Napolitano in his new book, Conspiracy Theory in which he makes the following observations. Most of the 'observers' (as the electors are called) agree that Hillary Clinton would have been elected had the election been held under the present system. Yes, those who favor the Electoral College system say that the popular vote for President has become meaningless, especially in the current climate. The issue then becomes what people in fact want and which candidate will represent their best interests?Once you have answered the above question, you might ask why the media never asks about state sovereignty. One reason is that they want to keep the state sovereignt y issue out of the campaign. For example, if a group of citizens in a particular state that does not want a person from another state to be elected president. That would be a strange situation, wouldn't it? It would be very strange if the media doesn't ask about state sovereignty when they see people from states like California fighting among themselves about who should be president. Doesn't the media want to keep them all at arm's length so that they can discuss issues that are important to them rather than focusing all their energies on the two major candidates? In fact, the media actually ignores the potential conflicts of interest of these electors who are bound to vote according to the popular vote in their state. They do, however, take this opportunity to ridicule Hillary Clinton for her perceived lack of qualifications. All this is newsworthy but it does not reflect on the actual merits of the two candidates. What this also tells us is that the media really wants to keep the peo ple in a state from throwing a monkey wrench into the works of the state. In other words, what these media people really want is to change the rules to fit their own political agendas and the above discussion shows us how they do this. Indeed, the outcome is that the electors do not really vote for the people's will, as in the case of the Founders, they are being used as pawns by the media and politicians who wish to see a particular person elected. So, what can we do? One of the best things that you can do is to get out and educate yourself as to how the Electoral College was created, especially those who don't understand why it exists. Indeed, education is the best weapon we have against this media-created drama. The best thing you can do is to educate yourself as to how the Electoral College was created. Then go out and spread the word to your friends and family members who don't know how it came to be. When we begin to educate ourselves and others, then we begin to realize that we can no longer allow this media generated nonsense to prevail.
